Delhi, the capital of India, has a rich history blended with some of the best tourist attraction. The entire city is dotted with fascinating mosques, relics, archaeological forts and historical monuments that can be visited anytime of the year. Red fort- final

Red fort– Built in 1638 by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, it is one of the most famous monuments in Delhi. Believe it or not it took almost 10 years to complete the fort and is spread over the length of almost more than 2-km. In fact, it was built to prevent the invaders, but today it is only a shadow of its majestic past. The significance of this structure is evident in the fact that it was here that the flag of India was first hoisted when the country attained independence from British Raj. From then onwards, the same tradition is followed on each anniversary of Indian Independence Day. The Red Fort was declared a ‘UNESCO World Heritage Site’ in 2007.

While visiting Delhi ensure that you watch the one hour-long light show that goes on every evening reflecting the history. It remains open from 9am to 6pm except on Mondays. You shouldn’t miss this if you visit Delhi.

Jama Masjid – Located in the vicinity of Red Fort, Jama Majid in Delhi happens to be another great place to visit representing the old Delhi. Built in the year, 1650 and commissioned by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, it took 13 long years to complete this structure. However, it is considered as the largest mosque in Asia with courtyard large enough to accommodate almost 25,000 believers at a time. Humayun's Tomb- Final

Humayun’s Tomb: Humayun’s tomb resembles Taj Mahal in Agra as the monument is much inspired by the same design and architecture. It was built in 1570 and the body of second Mughal emperor, Humayun is kept inside the building. You should know that this monument in India is first of its kind. The tomb remains open entire day right from sunrise to sunset, but visits it in the late afternoon to get the best light. This type of Mughal architecture was the first of to be built in India, later the Mughal emperors followed it up with an extensive period of construction all over the country. The tomb is part of a superior complex that’s set amongst beautiful gardens.

Qutab Minar : Qutub Minar is the tallest brick minaret (Minar), almost (73 m-high) not only in India but also in the entire world. This is a beautiful representation of Indo-Islamic architecture and another wonderful place to visit in Delhi. It was built in 1206, but the reason behind building the monument is still unknown. India gate- FINAL

India Gate – India Gate is one of the most iconic and persistent symbol of New Delhi. This fort was built to commemorate the Indian martyrs and British soldiers who lost their life during Second World War. The best time to visit this magnificent and glorious structure is evening because of the floodlights while the fountains nearby make hypnotic display of varied hues.

Lotus temple -This famous temple is also located in Greater Kailash is known as the Bahai Temple and is one of the must visit places in Delhi. It is a spectacular example of contemporary architecture built like a lotus that looks really beautiful at night. The choice of Lotus was a sensible decision of the architect Furiburz Sabha as he considered lotus is an important symbol common all religion-Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism and Jainism and. People from different religions come to visit the place from all over the country. It is one of the wonderful picnic spot as the gardens and the ponds are really calm and quiet.
