10 things that you should not wear while travelling abroad

There may be occasions in your life when you need to travel abroad, it might be any reason- studies, employment or just for travelling and enjoying. Like India every country has its own customs and rules which they want to be followed by the outsiders who visit. There is a saying in English, “when in Rome, do as the Romans do”. Visiting any country our only aim should be not to violate their rules and cultures instead follow them full heartedly. During any travel we keep in mind what to wear and what not to wear and it is very much important for us to take care of things which we should not wear.

Country like a Middle East, women particularly should avoid wearing miniskirts, shorts, tight pants, cut sleeves specially while entering to the churches or any holy place. Meanwhile they should carry a shawl or stole with them just in case.

Very often it happens with us while we are at any function and we have packed a heavy dress for the occasion, as we open up to change we find the gorgeous dress turned into a mess. From discomfort to wrinkles and funky odours, the fabrics you choose can make or break your travel days. That’s why avoid packing silks, nylon, leather and more generally clothes made out of synthetic material.

  • A Large Purse:

At times we buy bags just for show to which we can say as fancy bags. Now while we are going to visit a place which is least familiar to us we should try keeping those bags at home. These kind of bags invite the pickpockets and with them a problem for us. So try keeping small zippers which could be easily carried without any fear of being robbed.

I think it would be more uneasy you being watched by your seat mate struggling with your attire, so keep this in your head after all the packing are done to wear the outfits which don’t bite you inside. Try wearing skirts, maxi, loose trousers, wrinkle free shirts as when you are attended by some of office mate or friends at the airport you mustn’t appear struggling with your clothes.

  1. Good tips. Thanks for sharing. I would add avoiding local items which could be associated with a national conflict. For example, don’t wear a traditional Arab Keffiyeh when visiting Israel.
